This event includes sessions on September 14, 21, and 26. The sessions on Monday, September 14 and 21 will run from 6:00pm–8:00pm, and the Saturday, September 26 session will run from 10am-1PM as a field day.

Whether you want to take care of your woods, hike and hunt on your land, or make memories with family, we are here to help. Our “Learn About Your Land” classes provide the knowledge and resources for you to get the most from your woodland. We invite you to join us to learn about your land.
Learn About Your Land is a series of three weekly classes, and registration of $30 covers all three classes.
- In the “Short Description (Excerpt),” write a one-sentence summary of the event. If the event has multiple dates, include them in that sentence. This summary will appear on the main /events page as well as the relevant /programs pages.
- Fill out the “Event Date and Time” section. IMPORTANT: if the event has multiple sessions, only enter the date of the first session. If you enter a full date range, the event will show up on the calendar on every single date in that range rather than just the dates of the individual sessions.
- Leave black the “Location,” “Map URL,” and “Cost” sections.
- Fill out the “Contact Information” section. If you include a phone number, use the following format: 608-555-5555.
In the “Event” tab of the right sidebar, select the appropriate checkboxes as follows:
- For our events: Select the checkboxes for the /programs page(s) where you would like the event to appear. Also select “Online event” or “In-person event” so that it appears in the proper place on the main /events page. If the event has both in-person and online components, check both “Online event” and “In-person event.”
- For events hosted by another organization (we are not involved): Select “Other organization” and leave all other checkboxes blank. This will cause the event to show up in the “Other events for woodland owners” section on the main /events page while omitting it from the main calendar.

Invite Wildlife To Your Woodland
Monday, September 14, 2026 6-8PM
Learn to enhance your woodlands to attract a variety of wildlife. This session identifies the four requirements to attracting wildlife to your land—space, water, food, and shelter—as well as how you can improve upon or create new habitat for wildlife.

Keeping Your Woods Healthy: the signs and symptoms of sick trees
Monday, September 21, 2026 6-8PM
A healthy woodland provides many benefits. Is yours healthy? Do you have injured or dying trees? Your woods may look fine, but is it healthy? This session will review insects, diseases, animals, non-native invasive species, environmental factors, and improper woodland management that can affect the health of your woodland. You will leave knowing signs and symptoms of sick trees, and who to call if you have a concern.

Silviculture Management- In Person Field Day
Saturday, September 26, 2026 10AM-1PM
Attend this field day at Governor Thompson State Park and meet with WI DNR Foresters, DNR Wildlife Specialists, and DNR Forest Health Specialists, as they explain woodland management opportunities and methods. The day will focus on specific management strategies around wildlife and forest health. Come learn and ask your questions to the specialists!
