Are you interested in growing culinary mushrooms like cremini, oyster, or shiitake mushrooms? Join this free upcoming event from the UW-Extension Tribal Food Systems Webinar series. Speakers Joseph Schaar (Lac Vieux Desert Agricultural Holdings) and Tony Johnson (UW Extension Forestry) will introduce the basics of growing culinary mushrooms indoors and outside in logs or buckets.

Participants will learn:

  • What are mushrooms and how they grow
  • What kind of mushrooms can you grow on substrate sources available to you
  • Entry level ways to start producing mushrooms indoors and outdoors
  • How to inoculate a mushroom log -Infrastructure to scale up indoor production
  • Food safety considerations
  • Resources to help you get started
